Ufuoma McDermott, Uche Jombo, Sola Sobowale, Chioma Akpotha, Julius Agwu, Odunlade Adekola, Kenneth Okonkwo & More Star In Omoni Oboli's New Movie:“Wives on Strike: The Revolution”


Nollywood actress, writer, producer and director, Omoni Oboli is set to return to cinemas this year with a sequel to her record making movie “Wives on Strike”. The sequel is titled “Wives on Strike: The Revolution”.


Last year, Omoni Oboli stormed cinemas nationwide with her hilarious comedy movie which grossed over 15 million naira in 15 days, 57 million naira in 17 days and a whooping sum of 60 million naira after few weeks making it one of the top box office movies from Nollywood.  Omoni Oboli’s feat with this movie earned her huge recognition both home and away.


Owing to her success as a filmmaker, Omoni Oboli is about to take over the Nigeria cinema once again come December 29th making it the second movie she would be releasing in a year after the release of ‘Okafor’s Law’ earlier this year. Okafor’s Law sits pretty at the 5th spot in the highest grossing movies in Nollywood.

Wives on Strike followed the story of a group of market women who decided to take matters into their own hands against their husbands in a bid to stir them into standing up for a young girl whom they wanted to protect from the wishes of her own father.

In the sequel, ‘Wives on Strike: The Revolution movie follows these market women fighting against domestic violence after one of them was beaten to death by her husband. This leads to yet another strike by the women against their husbands forcing their hands to stand up for what is right.

With stellar cast such as Omoni Oboli, Ufuoma McDermott, Uche Jombo, Toyin Abraham, Sola Sobowale, Chioma Akpotha, Julius Agwu, Odunlade Adekola, Kenneth Okonkwo and more, Wives on Strike: The Revolution promises to be fun, intriguing, educating and definitely hilarious.

Omoni Oboli made her directorial debut with the romantic comedy ‘Being Mrs Elliott. Her second movie “The First Lady,” had also opened as the highest grossing opening weekend Nigerian film in cinemas. Omoni’s works have featured in several international film festivals and have received recognitions far and wide. She remains the only filmmaker to have had all her movies a major success back to back.

Wives on Strike: The Revolution is set to hit cinemas nationwide come 29th December, 2017.
